I’m doing the online bible study with Proverbs31 called, A Study of 1 & 2 Kings: Trustworthy (by none other than Lysa TerKeurst of course!). Not because I felt like my trust in God was wavering, but I felt a need to do it because sometimes you need to do things that you think you don’t need because you really do need it. I did need this. I needed this study because it has made me realize how far I have come in my faith walk. It has helped me see things I need to see for me to grow even closer in my faith and trust in God. I also needed it to share with others that are going through difficulties right now.
One of the questions today was, “Have you ever attached your worth and value to the wrong things? Instead of letting what you’ve been entrusted with elevate the faithfulness of God, maybe you’re tempted to let it elevate “your” significance”….MAN! that hit home. I think back to 10 years ago. All my debt was paid off, I had a nice car, a great job, money to spare and I wasn’t really giving it all to God. I wasn’t giving him the thanks. I felt like those things defined me. Fast forward to today, I have a car, it’s not really defined as ‘nice’ but it does the job and I’m SO thankful for it. I have TONS of debt but I’m happy and I give God ALL the thanks for everything. I just graduated from graduate school and I’m thankful I was able to get obtain these degrees. I don’t have a great paying job, but I know God has a plan for me. I give back with what little I do have because that is what we are supposed to do. I fully trust in God and in his plan. I have come so far in how I attach my worth and value. As Lysa quoted on one of the videos for this study, “We have to move from being terrified that God would test us in our trust to being overwhelmed by the reality that God would trust us with the test. God isn’t giving you the test to enslave you, God is entrusting you. What an amazing reality that God would entrust a test to us.”… think about it. Is God entrusting you with a test? I would love for you to share in the comments. The test he is entrusting us with will not only bless you but so many others.
