Faithful love and truth will join together; righteousness and peace will embrace.
I bought this devotional when we were in California written by none other than Lysa TerKeurst called Embrace. It includes 100 daily devotionals; some of them are excerpts from some of her other books, but it’s nice to reread them. When January rolled around, Marley and I started talking about what our word of the year would be. Marley has decided hers would still be ‘courage’. I have decided on ‘embrace’. I think the title of that devotional motivated me and it seems to be fitting for this year. Last year my word was ‘hope’. I chose the word hope before the beginning of January last year because of the hard decisions we were facing with Marley. It was not only my word last year but what I lived by. Don’t get me wrong, I still live on hope every day. Yet, now I also choose to embrace every moment. They say as a parent you should embrace every moment because your child will grow up before you know it. It’s SO true! Marley is already 10! She’s already talking of moving away and where I support her, it also scares me to death. I’ll admit since I’ve been through so much with her in the last 6 years, I have some slight separation anxiety, we both do. However, it has gotten A LOT better. Now that she may have a chance of living a full life, there are so many things to embrace. I am beyond thankful for so many things. I chose to embrace because instead of looking at what I don’t have or where I need to be in my career goals or weight loss goals, I will embrace where I am instead.
I would love for you to share your word of the year and why you chose it in the comments below.
